Have you hit these walls learning Japanese?

Most learners get stuck in the same places: kanji readings, grammar conjugations, listening and keigo (honorific language). Chinese speakers get a head start because they already know the characters — but they hit the same walls.

?You recognise the kanji but can't read it aloud

「生」 has more than a dozen readings, and 「手紙」 means "letter", not "toilet paper" as it would in Chinese. Knowing what a character means isn't the same as reading and using it.

→ 2,211 kanji · on/kun readings + Japanese–Chinese differences
?You've memorised lots of grammar but still pick the wrong answer

「ので」 vs 「から」, 「ばかり」 vs 「ところ」… each one looks familiar, but in a real sentence you can't tell them apart.

→ 812 grammar points · 150 similar-pattern comparisons
?Listening is too fast — you miss every sentence

You know every word in the textbook, but in a listening test all you catch is 「えーと」. The moment someone speaks quickly, your mind goes blank.

→ 244 dialogues · line-by-line shadowing, male & female voices
?You passed N2, but at a Japanese company you're afraid to speak

Your keigo comes out wrong, you don't know how to open an email, and phone calls are even more nerve-racking.

→ Business Japanese · keigo · email · interviews
Three levels

One meaning, three ways to say it

The course takes you from N5 polite speech all the way to workplace keigo: first learn to say it correctly, then learn to say it appropriately.

Casual
Polite
Business keigo

In Japanese, who you're talking to matters as much as what you say. Every example sentence, dialogue and business expression in the course is labelled with its speech register and when to use it, so you sound right both in the exam room and at work.

How it works

Your daily routine

About 30 minutes a day. Follow the schedule for a year and a half and you can go from zero to N1.

1

Today's lesson

Listen to the pronunciation, study example sentences and rate how well you know each item; grammar comes with conjugation rules, explanations and a JLPT-style mini quiz.

2

Review due cards

Vocabulary, kanji and grammar are scheduled on a forgetting curve: what you forget quickly comes back more often, and what you've mastered is spaced out automatically.

3

One listening & speaking drill

Line-by-line dialogue shadowing, example-sentence shadowing and mock listening tests — so you understand spoken Japanese and can say it yourself.

Use cases

How you can use it

A few typical ways to use the app.

Example scenario
Complete beginner planning a trip to Japan

Spend two weeks on kana and pronunciation, then follow the N5 course one lesson a day; asking for directions, ordering food and shopping from the dialogues are useful right away.

旅For: beginners / learning for fun
Example scenario
Four months until the N2 exam

Set your exam date in the study plan and follow the daily pace it calculates; take one full mock exam a week, and drill your mistakes in the mistake notebook.

考For: N3–N1 exam prep
Example scenario
New at a Japanese company — phones and emails

Go through the keigo tables first, then use the email templates to write your first business email; before interviews, use the 36 Q&As to prepare your own answers.

職For: working in Japan / job hunting

These are example scenarios, not real learner reviews.

FAQ

FAQ

Can I start as a complete beginner?

Yes. The first stage starts with the Japanese writing system, kana and pronunciation rules. Every kana can be tapped to hear it, and there are mini-games for kana practice.

I don't know any kanji. How are they taught?

Every kanji is shown with its on'yomi / kun'yomi readings, and sentences carry furigana, so you can start without knowing a single character. If you read Chinese, you already know most of them — the hard part is the readings and the differences in meaning, so we flag meanings and character forms that differ from Chinese (e.g. 手紙 = letter, 勉強 = study, 気 vs 气).

Is all the Japanese translated?

Yes. Example sentences, reading passages, dialogues, and mock-exam questions and answer options all come with translations, hidden by default and shown with one tap; you can also set them to always show in Settings.

Are there past JLPT papers?

The copyright in past papers belongs to the exam organisers, so we don't republish them. Instead we offer 25 original full exams written to match the official question types, number of questions and time limits; the exam guide page links to the official free sample questions and the official workbook (公式問題集) downloads.

Does it work on my phone? Is my progress synced?

Yes. Just open it in your phone's browser — you can also "Add to Home Screen" to use it like an app. Once you're logged in, progress syncs automatically between computer and phone, and you can keep studying offline.

Will I be charged automatically when the trial ends?

No. The website doesn't store any payment method; your membership is activated only after you scan to pay and submit an order yourself.
